JEE Main 2026 Eligibility

  1. Passing Year: Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or are appearing for the exam in 2026, are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2026 (any board).
  2. Age Limit: There is no age restriction for appearing in the JEE Main exam.
  3. Percentage Criteria: The 75% marks requirement does not apply to JEE Main; it is only applicable for JEE Advanced. Hence, any eligible candidate can apply.
  4. Subjects: Applicants must have completed or be appearing for the 10+2 examination with core subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, for all programs (B.Tech, B.E., B.Arch, and B.Planning).
  5. Nationality: JEE Main is open to Indian citizens as well as NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and foreign nationals.

When are JEE Main 2026 Application forms available? 

The JEE Main exam is conducted in two sessions:  January and April. The candidates can appear for both sessions and can fill out the application separately or altogether based on their preference. The application for the January session begins in November, while for the April session it begins in February. The candidates are required to check the official notification on the NTA’s JEE website.

The detailed JEE Main 2026 application process is as follows:

Step 1: Log on to the official website of JEE at jeemain.nta.nic.in and find the tab “ new registration”.

Step 2: To register for the JEE Main 2026, fill out the contact information and other details, such as the Candidate’s Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Numbers, Email ID, and Security pin. 

Step 3: You will get an application number. Save it for future reference.

Step 4: Log in to the JEE Main 2026 application page using your application number, password, and security PIN.

Step 5: Fill out the application form, mentioning details such as exam city choice, course selected, language, etc.

Step 6: Upload the documents required as per the category chosen in the application form in the given size and format.

Step 7: Pay the fee as per the category.

  4. If applicable, upload your PwD/PwBD certificate named ‘Disability Certificate’ in PDF format, which should be between 10 and 300 KB.
